The bug was confirmed by Martin v. Loewis, one of the gcc authors.

Can you send me a copy of the change you made? I'm currently in the middle
of a lot of changes to rational.hpp, and any changes in CVS will get lost. I
don't have access to CVS (firewall) so I can't see changes there. Actually,
a diff of current CVS against the released 1.20.1 version would be useful.
