Certainly they are useful. My employers have some code for printing roman
numerals. It is used for formatting page numbers and the like. (As I
recall, it supports the following formats for numbers: 1,2,3,4; a,b,c,d;
A,B,C,D; i,ii,iii,iv; I,II,III,IV.)
