See my other post to Andy Little for a little snippet (bad pun
unintended) .... and I'll try to come up with something better. I just

I realize that. In practice, in the very short one-offs, I probably
wouldn't bother. In the code that runs seemingly forever, I would be
willing to give up lots of compile time (of course, faster would be
better :-) to catch errors that would cost me days or weeks of wasted
computation.....
