It's probably a good occasion to point out that supporting broken
platforms comes at a price.

Recent changes triggered a complete rerun of all tests (which takes
approximately 34 CPU hours on one box and a couple of hours on another
box here). These changes also broke almost everything for the vintage
compilers. The fixes for those compilers will trigger another rerun of
all tests consuming another CPU day here.

It's not the first time that something like this happens due to work for
old platforms (it's probably the first time that things went that bad,
though). Events like this one slow down the release preparations.

Not only those who volunteer to support old platforms have to pay for
that support.
