AFAIK, we are ready to generate the 1.43.0 release candidates.

For the current state of the release branch, see

Please make no further changes to branches/release. I plan to generate
release candidates later today.

PS: There are still a number of VC++ 10 failures, but they will have
to wait until after the release. I think we need a bug fixing sprint
fairly soon to address those and other accumulated issues.
