Where?  In the Jamfile?  I don't think so.

They're completely separate options:

<auto-index>on turns on indexing
<auto-index-verbose>on turns on "helpful" diagnostic messages during 
indexing.

Therefore there should be no difference in XML output between 
<auto-index-verbose>on and off.  Are you sure something else hasn't changed? 
Does it build with OK with auto-index=off?  Otherwise if this is something I 
can take a look at I'll try and find the bug!
