If you're going with DocBook, you should consider the work already done on
BoostBook (which first transforms to DocBook). We've already handled the
DocBook -> HTML, single HTML, PDF, PS, etc. . See instructions for generating
output in the various formats from BoostBook (via BBv2) here:

The BBv2 tools might need a little bit of tweaking to start with DocBook
instead of BoostBook, but please don't start from scratch. Or, if you think
you might want something more than what DocBook offers, you could use
BoostBook directly (it's a superset of DocBook) and we can extend it with
Boost.Build-specific markup.
