Hmm... it turns out that when evaluating:

$(some_variable:G=) 

which would convert <source>foo//bar into foo//bar, bjam decomposes and then 
recomposes the value, and drops of of the slashes. I've reverted a part of 
the patch -- the H:\ path should still work, however.
