I called the rule string.abbreviated before echo "[ VARNAMES string ]" , I can't find .abbreviated-$(string) too.

But if I rewrite BOOST_BUILD_PATH/util/string.jam line 66 and 99:

$(.abbreviated-$(string)) --> .abbreviated-$(string)

I can find it.
