Thanks. The documentation only mentions it once (in the Configuration section), and makes no mention that it can be used for anything other than where site/user-config.jam are placed. Truth be told, the documentation is a constant source of frustration.

I believe that the search path is controlled by
BOOST_BUILD_PATH.
