It is 3.1.18.

I just looked here:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/boost/files/boost-jam/

and downloaded 3.1.18-1 but it appears that that is exactly the same 
version. At least, it didn't solve the problem.

Right, that one comes (I think) with my Linux Mint and is indeed 
versioned 3.1.16

apt-get says: "bjam is already the newest version"

So I have to compile bjam myself this time. There was never a need for 
this before. But no problem. Where is bjam in the tree, or in another SVN?
