To me, the best solution is to nicely ask our cowic host to run a cron job on the ftp server to purge develop and master results that are more than 15 days old.  That would seem to be simplest if it could be achieved.

Which is what was set up previously and is no longer working. So if we have a script at hand we can ask anyone to run it.
