Unfortunately, my example code which does not compile on my platform (gcc 3.4.2 on Win 2000 Pro) seems to compile with Robert’s platform (same compiler !!), so it is very strange…

Thus Robert has not been able to help further.

Hello Jean-Noël, my apologies for not answering before, but I'm without
a clue as to what the problem might be with your code... I suggested
you applied the patches because the error messages seemed to be
related to the problem I had been investigating in parallel, but looks like it
is something else. Hasn't Robert assisted you?
