believe me u solved a big problem for me as i was combining boost threading and pthread mutex in my project as i was not able to do explicit locking and unlocking in boost.

This was true for Boost 1.34 and earlier. In Boost 1.35 and Boost
1.36, mutex has lock() and unlock() members.
