I am trying to implement a basic ICMP ping using boost::asio. The boost asio library documentation concerning ICMP is pretty scant. It illustrates how to connect an icmp socket, but not how to send an echo request packet, or any other details about how the protocol can be used.

If anyone has successfully used boost::asio::ip::icmp, and has some advice on how to use it to implement a simple ICMP ping, I would be greatly appreciative.
