Thanks for the advice guys, I thought so. 

I have tried eclipse/CDT. It works fine at indexing code which is not template heavy. but it doesn't seem to handle boost autocompletion very well. It might be something that I did wrong but I shall give it another go.

Yea, that is the best I have seen so far, but nothing gets anywhere
close to the quality of Visual Assist + MSVC sadly, that is my only
main tie to still programming on Windows, the IDE is just so much
better.  Might see if it works in wine...
