Hi Guys<br><br>Despite having used Boost for quite while I&#39;m doing my first install of Boost on<br>a Linux box and don&#39;t seem to be getting it right! This should be straight forward,<br>using all the defaults.<br><br>

Specifically this is Fedora 11 (64-bit), with gcc 4.4.1 and Boost 1.42, and I don&#39;t have<br>write permission for /usr/local, so...<br><br>&gt; ./bootstrap.sh --prefix=/home/rjones/thirdparty/boost/boost_1_42_0<br>....<br>

&gt; ./bjam install 2&gt;&amp;1 | tee bjam.log<br><br>There&#39;s A LOT of noise, lots of warnings, some errors, and finally<br><br>cp: cannot create regular file `/usr/local/lib/libboost_wave.a&#39;: Permission denied<br>

<br>    cp &quot;bin.v2/libs/wave/build/gcc-4.4.1/release/link-static/threading-multi/libboost_wave.a&quot;  &quot;/usr/local/lib/libboost_wave.a&quot;<br><br>...failed common.copy /usr/local/lib/libboost_wave.a...<br>...failed updating 98 targets...<br>
