Could someone explain to me how comparable distance works for point (P) and segment (AB), is it always shorten distance to line (length of red perpendicular from P on the pic above) or really to "limited" segment - nearest point _ON_ it (length of PA for the pic above)?
it is shortest distance to the segment i.e. the length of PA
above. Note also that "comparable" is not exactly that distance
but omits some arithmetic operations for efficiency and aims in
comparison of two or more of "comparable" distances.
