You may joke but consider this:
nary - 0 args - 0 characters before 'nary'
unary - 1 arg - 1 character before 'nary'
binary - 2 args - 2 characters before 'nary'
ternary - 3 args - 3 characters before 'nary'
(OK, so it doesn't work for 4...)
