I've only tried it on gcc; any feedback on other platforms appreciated.

On C++ Builder I see distinctly obscure messages, worse I get a whole bunch
of warnings complaining that "ambiguous operators need paranthesis" from
the *good* assertions.

Shame it was a nice idea though!
