You are welcome to have the discussion right here, or to take it into
private emails with the library author if you feel that would be more
productive. One advantage of having the discussion "in public" on the list
is that in a domain where few of us have expertise (I think this one
probably qualifies), we'll all learn something. Also, we'll have an
opportunity to evaluate the quality of the commentary and the eventual
quality of the library we're getting.

P.S. One advantage to having the discussion directly with the library author
is that you won't waste time responding to interventions from non-experts
who really don't know what they're talking about (like me).
