I think this is likely (ignoring any exception-phobes that might be
out there - we don't have any of *those* on our list, now do we?)
If we don't hear a strong argument in favor of a non-throwing
version, an argument that includes a compelling usage model, within
the next day or so, I suggest we drop it.
