http://www.wizards.dupont.com/cristy/ is one Imaging library. Althought
their C++ version is said to be version 0.9x it is pretty stable.

Subject: [boost] STL oriented pixel/image library
I'm interested to know if anyone has any literature pointers on C++
STL oriented pixel and/or image libraries? Please email me references
and I'll summarize to the list, thanks. I haven't seen anything like
this pop up in the SIGGRAPH literature or on the graphics
newsgroups/lists I'm on and I know lots of graphics programmers are
duplicating low-level pixel format conversion code that should be
handled once and for all by a good template-based library.
