I've messed around with this some more, and:

1) You need to be sure to build the regex library with the STLPort include
path set (modify gcc.mak if necessary)
2) You need to place the STLport library *after* the regex library on the
command line (actually I placed it both before and after as a belt and
braces solution, whatever placing regex last doesn't work, and no, I don't
understand this).
