function and VC6 and BOOST_NO_DEPENDENT_NESTED_DERIVATIONS

For some reason my code to test whether
BOOST_NO_DEPENDENT_NESTED_DERIVATIONS is required or not fails with VC6,
even though function_test.cpp (which uses the same constructs) builds fine
when BOOST_NO_DEPENDENT_NESTED_DERIVATIONS is not defined.  

So, either the test case too strict, or is there something capricious going
on.  Anyone (particularly Doug) have any insights?  

I've attached the test code so you can try for yourself.
