Just to clarify my mistake :)

If you install .NET to a different drive/location from default, MSVC still
goes to the default location whilst documentation/SDK goes to the correct
place. There are also no links on start menu etc to the tools, it is only by
looking in explorer that you find them.

Apologies for my (off topic) confusion.
