     The following are my initial stab at the concepts that need to be 
     handled in a sockets library.
     
     
     Local or remote
     Protocol family
     raw
     IPv4
     IPv6
     ATM
     X25
     etc ...
     
     Address Family
     IPv4
     IPv6
     X25
     NSAP family
     etc
     
     Active or Passive
     Blocking or Non-Blocking
     Unicast or Multicast or Broadcast 
     Connected or Connectionless
     Datagram or Stream
     Reliable or Un-reliable
     Ordered or UnOrdered
     support for out-of-band data or not.
     
     
     I will try to arrange these into a feature map.
