I used passing policies as integral flags in the early (unpublished)
versions of Loki. I built a lot of intellectually interesting tools based on
compile-time integer computations. But the end result was completely weird,
and I was glad to replace it with policies as they are today. They are not
as "interesting" and "cute" but definitely the outcome is much better for
everyone in all aspects.
