Sure it's in the VTL, but nowadays I'd prefer the iterator adaptors
implementation (or a VTL2 based on iterator adaptors). We do intend 
to rewrite VTL in this way, but due time constraints we are still
in the early design stage. Contributions are welcome, of course ;)
