I can try it on Windows2000 (VC6SP3) on a dual PIII, if you tell me what

Yes, I did include -mthreads, although not at the right position, as it
turns out. -mthreads needs to be before the source file, and it now works.

Anybody out there with a multiprocessor win32/linux box that wants to give
the test a go?
