The first child is always the hardest since you have no idea what to expect.
My wife and I are expecting our seventh in a couple of weeks; it's almost a
non-event for us. That's rather like writing software, don't you think?
The first time you write some functionality, it's a lot of work, confusing,
scary, troublesome, you name it. When you rewrite it later, it's easier.
When you've written your fourth or fifth version of the same concept, you
hardly think about it (other than to wish for a standardized, template
version so you can quit rewriting it!).
