After using bind instead my code is much more difficult to read. I am
afraid I forget what it means after a few months.
Is there a long answer?

Yes,
You'll forget what compose_hfxyz means long before you'll forget that
bind works in all cases. (up to at the moment, 10 arguments)
So forget compose1, compose2, compose_fg, mem_fun, mem_fun_ref,
ptr_fn, etc..
and just learn "bind" you'll be a lot happier.
Trust me.
