We are starting to get messages forwarded from the gmane news server.
They popped up for the Boost moderators to approve since they were not
posted from email addresses on the list.
But even though they actually came from gname, the header "From" had
been set to make it look like the message came from the person. For
example:
From: "Gennadiy Rozental" <gennadiy_at_[hidden]>
Now Gennadiy is a member, but not at that particular email address. I'm
assuming that if he posted from his usual address, Mailman would have
let it through.
So what I'm suggesting is that we do accept the messages forwarded by
gmane, but only if the "From:" address is on our list. That means
people will have to sign up (presumably as "nomail") to participate
even via the news server.
The thought is that will stop at least of few of the "I don't know
anything about C++ or Boost, but..." posts.
Comments?
