Another problem with Emacs is that it is a addictive. How many time have
you not typed M-V in Word?

I try to use other editors beside Emacs just to not get stuck in (setq
brain 'emacs-mode)...

Actually I think that's very telling. There's been no abhorrence of tabs
expressed, AFAIK. The rationales given for using spaces in boost source
are purely practical. The only abhorrence has been expressed here by tab
advocates against spaces.

Let's not make this into a religious issue. Spaces is what we do at
boost, and it seems to be working pretty well for the people who look at
our source. It's unfortunate that it causes inconvenience for some
people when writing source.

My advice to you, Paul, if the abhorrence gets too strong, is to learn
emacs -- you can get it do that tab/spaces round-trip conversion every
time you open or save a file, or even just make groups of spaces "act
like tabs". Of course, a relationship with emacs is a lifelong project
;-)
