You might want to catch that exception :)
> fs::path p1("/home/ghost"), p2("/a/b/c");
Both of these are system-specific paths (because of the leading '/'), so the
exception actually comes from here. Change to:
fs::path p1("/home/ghost", fs::system_specific),
p2("/a/b/c", fs::system_specific);
With that change, I get the result:
/home/ghost/a/b/c
