Yeah I was using the mpl_v2 branch instead of the trunk. I didn't
realize that branch had been merged months ago. 

It would be helpful if you had this information in the documentation at

http://www.mywikinet.com/mpl/
http://www.boost.org/libs/mpl/doc/

since both of those pages say the "latest sources" are on the v2 branch.
