You can just do this as well:
BOOST_STATIC_ASSERT(
( boost::is_same<T, bool>::value ) ||
( boost::is_same<T, int>::value ) ||
( boost::is_same<T, double>::value ) ||
( boost::is_same<T, std::string>::value );
)
In other words, just parenthesize the expressions.
