I saw your post and I think that's strong point *against* using thread
local storage (as delivered by runtime and OS), and replace it with some
Boost list run by bdawes at acm.org, gregod at cs.rpi.edu, cpdaniel at pacbell.net, john at johnmaddock.co.uk
