I've written two small patches to do this:

against boost/config/compiler/

define BOOST_VARIADIC_MACROS if available
works with gcc and intel cc

the version numbers(3.3 for gcc, 7.0 for intel) are pessimistic guesses 
from tests and internet posts.

BOOST_FOREACH(VAR,COL)

up to 10 commas inside VAR, none inside COL
