Yes, as an underscore is commonly seen in identifiers throughout boost, stl 
and C++ for that matter. I (perhaps incorrectly?) view vc6_5, vc7_0, vc7_1 
as identifiers in this context as well. Pressing a few extra shift keys once 
every 4-6 months when installing a new version of boost seems like little 
overhead to me. ;-)
