I fail to see how defining BOOST_NO_INCLASS_MEMBER_INITIALIZATION
can produce the second type of undefined symbol errors,
but I guess I'm missing something. It'd be fine if vacpp
7.0 could support Boost.Serialization.

Yes, please do so. Even better than this would be to set up
a stable test engine running vacpp 7.0. I don't know
if you have to resources to do so, or maybe FFT-vacppv6
can upgrade to 7.0.
