Furthermore, if you do want array arguments, then you might just
say
template< class T, std:size_t N >
void receive( T (&array)[N] )
{ /* call void ptr version here */ }
or perhaps just
template< std::size_t N >
void receive( char (&array)[N] ) { ... }
