BTW I think N1668 is the wrong reference. Probably should be n1666 "Technical
Report on C++ Performance" 28 April 2003. ( Section 3 in  n1666 is a very good 
example of a Terms and Definitions section, comprehensive and early in the 
documentation FWIW).
