I was wondering why there wasn't such a library in boost already. While 
I was searching for similar functionality I also found some requests on 
boost mailing list 
(http://lists.boost.org/boost-users/2006/10/23187.php) so I guess there 
are others that would benefit from this as well.

There is a similar, but quite more modest attempt at this problem at:

find useful in your work.
