I want to give maintainers ample liberty and time, but very old
trunk/release diffs smell fishy and make one wonder if we understand
very well what's really there. I realize that passing regressions goes a
long way towards this, but we're not passing all regressions.
I don't want to start the whole MIA maintainers discussion again, but if
each release made a little progress that way, it would be nice.
