It isn't "download counts" per se, but github for instance tracks the
number of forks/followers, etc., in case you're keeping score in the
reputation game. For instance, with my 5 followers
(https://github.com/straszheim) I am 23.8% as cool as Dave Abrahams,
with 21 (https://github.com/dabrahams). There is plenty more detail
in there, for instance a nifty "impact" graph
