Hi,

Christophe sent me this week a patch to avoid many warnings about unused 
parameters in many files. I applied that (all but one file which was not 
about unused parameters) and fixed some more.

So this is a low-risk update which might be convenient for many users. 
All tests run fine.

Do I have permission to still merge this with the Release branch?
