on Ubuntu 12.04 32-bit
  ./bootstrap.sh && ./b2 (from the .tar.bz2) works ok with gcc 4.6.3.

and

  ./bootstrap.sh --with-toolset=clang && ./b2 (from the .tar.bz2)
works ok with clang 3.0
