there seems to be progress, as I am getting more branches and stuff from the
submodules.

But I'm getting lots of
fatal: reference is not a tree: 575e6436ae2387fedd36f6c795a5aa9f47a35299
fatal: Needed a single revision
And the superproject is missing:
Unable to find current revision in submodule path 'libs/functional_hash'
Or am I using the wrong superproject?
Yours,
Jürgen
