Yes. I thought this had been fixed. It's now too long ago for me to recall
exactly what happened. I know that I filed a trac ticket to get it
fixed in
smart_ptr's spinlock; I think that at that time Boost.Atomic has still not
been reviewed and merged, and I probably fixed it only in a local copy.

Absolutely! Few people have any reason to be using Boost.Atomic.
